Upcoming Battle.net 2.0 Features

Little by little, Blizzard has been hinting to the new features to be included in the next version of battle.net. Diii.net has compiled a list of these features for us!

Once you review the list, most of these improvements are a given - as they are either already implemented in WarCraft III or World of WarCraft somehow. However, there are some major improvements that will be specific to StarCraft II - namely eSport support.

Blizzard has also announced that account based achievement tracking will be implemented. In this system, you will gain points from each Blizzard game you play which is then funneled to a top “account-level” achievement score. These accumulated points, coming from StarCraft II, Diablo III, and/or WOW gameplay, can then be used toward credits for Blizzard store merchandise, and or other offerings they may decide to release.

Here are a quick list of upcoming features for “Battle.net 2.0″:

  • Improved Ping
  • Channels and Chat in-game
  • Improved Ladder and Rankings System
  • Hack/Cheat-fre
  • Extended Stats, with possibility of Disconnect tracking
  • Automatic/Anonymous Matchmaking (AMM)
  • Avatars and Icons for player representation
  • Advanced friend management
  • Clan Support
  • eSport Support
  • Automated Tournaments
  • In-game voice chat
