New Pearce Interview from GC 2008
AusGamers, an online gaming community focused on Australian gamers, has released an interview with Frank Pearce from the long gone GC 2008 convention. While nothing ground breaking was revealed, it was nice to see another interview during a slow news week. While the interview had horrible sound and poor editing, we did manage to exact some useful information. Many topics were covered during interview, including one off topic question on Diablo III. Below is a compiled list outlining the major points of the interview. If you are brave, give the interview a look too.
- Expect long continued support after the release, as history has shown with the original StarCraft.
- Unsure, but hopeful, that StarCraft 2 will replace the original StarCraft in Korean eSport. However, as history has shown, the original StarCraft has trumped the newest released RTS - WarCraft III.
- Lessons learned from dealing with WOW cheating will be applied to the new Battle.net 2.0 and StarCrart 2 platforms. For example, a security token that adds an extra layer of protection from account fraud.
- States that their main focus in combating piracy of their games is through a offerings a unique online platform which requires a valid and unique CD key - Battle.net
- An expansion for StarCraft 2 is not off the table, and “it is definitely something that is in discussion.”
- A StarCraft MMO? “Uhhh, No.”
- Lowering latency during gameplay is of concern and they are working on various efforts to reduce overall gameplay lag.
and for the brave, here is video of the interview (warning, horrible audio):
