Legacy of the Confederation Flashback

The Oracle, creator and producer of LotC, has confirmed that ALL Legacy of the Confederation episodes will be ported for StarCraft 2.

For those unfamiliar, Legacy of the Confederation is a popular “series of playable missions connected by an ‘Alternate Reality’ storeline” which is set within Blizzard Entertainment’s StarCraft lore. Considered as good as the BroodWar expansion story line, it was “hailed by PC Gamer Magazine as one of the best StarCraft campaigns of all time”.

A ton of information is already available at the official LotC website, so if you were a fan of the original LotC - you definitely want to check it out. With the refresh of StarCraft II, so comes a refresh of LotC - but what will be different? Here are a few details that have been revealed:

• The UED, United Earth Directorate, will be replaced by “the highly militant and imperialistic ‘Confederation’.”
• Alternate storyline takes place just after the Confederation arrives in the Koprulu Sector.
• Admiral Gerard DuGalle and Vice-Admiral Alexie Stukov will not appear in the LotC remake.
• Three new buildable units.
• A special hero unique to the Confederation, or ‘Confed’.
• Pre-Rendered cinematic video.
• All new sound effects and voice recordings.

Some cool product statistics:

• The script is 611 pages long.
• 9-10 hours of spoken dialogue.
• Voice actors have been used, in addition to participants from the StarCraft community.
• New music for every mission, licensed by composers.
• 34 missions, and an epilogue.
• Hundreds of new sounds.
• Many sounds are already complete, see below.
